Malham walking weekend

Over the years, we’ve had some memorable walking weekends with our friends but, what with Covid and an ever-increasing list of personal commitments, it’s become more and more difficult to get everyone together so it was wonderful this weekend to be able to assemble most of the group (13 of us – 15 if you count the two canine companions) for a gathering in Malham.

It’s never quite the same when it’s not the full group and advancing age has meant that we can’t all tackle the longer walks any more but everyone gives it their best effort and, in a way, it adds to the sense of achievement and camaraderie. Most of us that did the full 8 / 9ish mile walk up to Malham Tarn via Janet’s Foss, Gordale Scar and Malham Cove, took great pleasure in comparing aches pains and injuries when we got back but most of that was forgotten after a couple of pints / glasses of Pinot.

Can’t wait for the next one.
